The Overview Effect was improvised live at the Melbourne Recital Centre in September 2023 for Xani's first ever quadraphonic show "Xani Makes".

Surrounded by four speakers, the audience and a divine lighting show, Xani performed instrumental improvisations in surround sound to create an immersive, interactive experience.

This track, is inspired by the phenomenon that some astronauts report experiencing when seeing our planet Earth for the first time from space. This is called The Overview Effect.

Although this recording is in stereo, I playfully produced the live version by mixing in some fun panning moments which Isaac Barter then mixed and played with even more.

I hope you enjoy this track. And here's hoping I get to perform my quadraphonic show again in 2024.
